Training Begins

Graduation day with Sara

Graduation day with Sara

Michael and I are in Seattle at Holland America learning the reservation system so we can begin our upcoming journey.  After 3 and 1/2 days we can now make new reservations, take deposits and post payments.  Yeah!   Any new system presents it own quirks that you need to know and Polar is no different.  cbok, dbok, ssv, fcc, aval – and more to come.   I told Michael that now he knows what travel agents do every day and he is beginning to appreciate the work we do from a technical viewpoint.

The staff in the office is very helpful and they are enjoying watching Michael go from 30 years of sales in to a totally new position of cruise consultant.  He is proving up to the task and will do very well, I’m sure.  I can’t believe we are leaving in less than 2 weeks and I have a life time of work to do before going.  We have this week in Seattle and then they will turn us loose on the Zuiderdam.  Wish us luck!

  1. See you on board!! Richard

  2. Thanks, Richard. I will look forward to your lectures since I have a lot to learn about Panama, in particular. I can also use your help on managing the internet on ship and on shore! See you soon.

  3. I just heard the news, Joanne, about your new “career adventure,” and I’m truly thrilled for you and Michael… How exciting! You’re an inspiration! I’m looking forward to reading your Blog and learning more about all your experiences: it will be a unique opportunity for us (Agents) to get an entirely new – and candid – perspective of Life on the High Seas! All the Best, and Bon Voyage!

    • Thanks, Linda. I am freaking out right now trying to pack and finish up work details but I am also looking forward to the challenge of a new job type. I’ll try to post at least once a cruise, depending ont he internet access so visit when you can.

  4. Bon Voyage! Stay Sane and enjoy the experience!
Camille turns 39 again today! Take care & keep in touch! TKB
